The past short sale process was long and frustrating. It artificially inflated the number of active listings. Most of the short sale listings had multiple offers, as many as 20 or more, but until the banks accepted and the contingencies were waived, they appeared on sites such as Realtor.com as active. Any listing in escrow with contingencies (Backup status) is considered active; the Broker is looking for additional offers.
